SEPTEMBER 17-18/19, 2021

Guided instruction begins Friday evening and concludes on Saturday, September 18. Students have the option to remain on property for an additional night and spend Sunday at their leisure. Sleep in (or not), take advantage of the open studio time and a beautiful natural setting to relax, create, read, explore, or simply hang out by the pool and enjoy the company of other women.

Kathleen House will guide students through various methods of artistic methods to encourage visual expression in journaling. No artistic experience is necessary. With Kathleen’s help, students can design an extravagant art journal filled with various techniques including print making, sketching, and collage - or create a minimalist repository ready for your writing adventures.

Journal writing is proven to promote and enhance creativity as well as improve writing and communication skills. Cindy Gordon will lead students in writing exercises designed to create confidence and jump start or reinvigorate a writing practice.

Journaling has no rules. Whether you want to capture dreams and ideas, create a record of your life, play with poetry, or simply make daily to-do lists and doodle, journaling provides a safe space for you to experiment, explore, and dream. A habitual journaling practice (daily, weekly, event specific, etc. Remember, NO RULES!) can provide a grounding moment, a respite from your daily life, and doesn’t require anything more than what you choose to give to it.
